The company has invested ₹10 crore in its wholly owned subsidiary, Shakti Energy Solutions to establish facility for PV modules and DCR cells with a production capacity of 2.20 GW.
Shakti Pumps (India) Limited has entered the solar cell and solar PV module manufacturing segment through its wholly owned subsidiary Shakti Energy Solutions Limited with an investment of ₹10 crore. This marks a strategic move towards backward integration in the renewable energy value chain.
The company will establish a greenfield solar manufacturing facility in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. The proposed facility will manufacture solar Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) cells and solar photovoltaic (PV) modules, with a planned production capacity of 2.20 GW.
According to the company’s exchange disclosure, the investment has been made by subscribing to equity shares of Shakti Energy Solutions. As the subsidiary is wholly owned, the investment does not constitute a related-party transaction, the filing stated.
The planned facility will expand the subsidiary’s existing solar-related operations, which include the manufacturing of solar structures and products for rooftop solar applications. The new plant is intended to add solar DCR cell and PV module manufacturing to its business. The company stated that no government or regulatory approvals are required for the investment. The transaction was reported as completed on the same day.
